Most boys dream of starring in a superhero movie.
Peter Pan may not be top of the list, but for one Penwortham youngster a chance to star alongside the boy who never grew up really is a dream come true.
Schoolboy Christian Rigby, 12,is making his stage debut at Preston’s Charter Theatre as leader of the Lost Boys gang.
The Penwortham Priory Academy student has been a member of Preston Youth Theatre for a number of years and got his break after coming through tough auditions.
He said: ““The auditions were hard as they were at the Guild Hall and one week it was dancing and singing and practising fake fighting and the week after it was speaking.
“There were about 80 people auditioning but thankfully not as many boys and I got the part of Slightly, leader of the Lost Boys in Peter Pan.
“I have quite a few lines to learn and auditions have already begun.
“I love the thrill of being on stage.”
Christian got hooked on drama when he followed his sister to Preston Youth Theatre and he has appeared in Peter Pan before at the Youth Theatre, Cinderella at Cop Lane Primary School and also played three parts in Penwortham Priory’s production of Bugsy just before Christmas.
And while stage shows are all well and good, Christian has high ambitions.
“I would love to appear as a Marvel Super Hero, like Captain America, in a film.
“That would be my dream and all I can do is keep on practising.
“My friends think it’s great that I am acting and they are all coming to watch me in.”
