Have your say

Sing a Song for Christmas is in the capable hands of The Well-Dressed Gentlemen today.

The chaps – and the one chappess – take songs from the roaring 20’s and interpret them in their own unique way.

The Well-Dressed Gentlemen

The Well-Dressed Gentlemen

Playing US and English classic and novelty songs from the Jazz Age and Roaring Twenties. They aim to bring a smile to your feet and start your feet tapping.

At lep.co.uk today they take a vintage tune and add words written with one eye on the season to create Christmas Blues (Come On Round Our Yule Fire).

The band – Paul Russell, Phil Batty, Sorrel Hearty and Julian Taylor – host an Acoustic Cabaret every month at Fox Lane cricket club in Leyland.

Sorrel and Phil also run ‘Music For All’ a charity that helps people learn music by not only lending the student their chosen instrument but teaching them for free. Entrance is free but people are asked to Music For All.

Julian Taylor also plays in Union Street Country Dance & Ceilidh Band, and leads the Palatine Fiddlers, a weekly workshop for players of all ages and abilities. See www.fiddlemusic.co.uk for more or, for more on the band, see www.thewelldressedgentlemen.co.uk or www.facebook.com/TheWellDressedGentlemen

By December 24, lep.co.uk aims to deliver a digital Advent calendar of song, with musical treats online every day.

From choirs to brass bands, buskers to panto stars, indie to folk and beyond, singers and musicians of all ages and styles are taking part – but that is only half the story.

We want YOU involved, too. Film yourself singing solo, with friends, family, workmates, strumming your guitar, tooting your flute, banging your drum, and helping create a unique

online musical event.
