The award-winning Get it Loud in Libraries programme of gigs in libraries is back.

The new programme launched at Kendal Library in September with the Charlatan’s frontman Tim Burgess playing and reading from his rock autobiography.

It continued with Drenge – brothers from the Peak District who played “punked up blues-rock mayhem” – at Lancaster Library in October.

Then NME faves Wolf Alice played back-to-back library shows in Lancaster and Liverpool.

The project has proved to have a great eye for stars of the future – Adele was a support act in her early days, and the likes of Warpaint, Jessie J, Florence & the Machine, Ellie Goulding, Scroobius Pip, Plan B, Disclosure Goulding, Bat for Lashes, Villagers, British Sea Power, The Vaccines, Marina and The Diamonds have all graced the library stage

The project was the brainchild of Stewart Parsons, who has now set up an independent company with co-director Emma Parsons.

Loud in Libraries CIC has secured funding from the PRS for Music Foundation, and Arts Council England to work with a new network of seven libraries across the north of England to develop young audiences.

A series of gigs by up-and-coming bands will be accompanied by workshops to develop young people’s access to music industry professionals, giving them the chance to learn about how to get into creative industries.

Young people will also be able to gain experience of working at the events, marketing and promoting the shows, and event management.

Stewart Parsons, Loud in Libraries Director, said: “We’re hoping to change their perception of libraries and bring them opportunities to learn about rock journalism, gig photography, artist management and how to put on a buzzing event in a great venue.”

The dates includes:

The Lone Bellow –Kendal Library –March 8

Nick Mulvey Liverpool
Library –March 9

Clean Bandit –Lancaster Library – April 30
