Songbird Erin Howard is just one step away from appearing in the grand final of the national talent contest TeenStar 2014.
The nine-year-old, who is a student at Kelly Shirley School of Dance at Burscough, has made it through to the area finals and is one good performance away from playing one of the greatest live music venues in the world. Last year the TeenStar final was held at the O2 Arena in London.
TeenStar searches for the UK’s best teen and pre-teen singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres. Erin, from Ormskirk, is now in the running to follow in the footsteps of previous winner Luke Friend of X Factor fame who is a former finalist in the competition.
Thousands of hopefuls entered TeenStar nationwide and hundreds of auditionees queued patiently on the day for their turn to impress the judges. Erin was encouraged to enter the competition by her family, who have been supporting her throughout. She impressed in auditions in Liverpool with her rendition of Katy Perry’s hit “The One That Got Away.”
She said “I was nervous at first, but I just love to sing and make people smile watching me perform.”
Erin has now won through the regional finals and will be performing again at the Royal College of Music in Manchester in the area finals on Sunday May 18.
Chris Grayston, Teenstar co-ordinator said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy or Luke Friend that can go all the way.”
