Easter eggstravaganza of events

THE start of the Easter weekend and first day of spring on Monday herald four days full of themes and activities to cover all aspects of this special season. Events kick-off tomorrow for Good Friday.

There’s an egg hunt at Old Holly Farm in Cabus, plus spring babies and crafts events running from Good Friday to April 22 – the playbarn is open from 9am daily for fun, play and food.

Lancaster’s city centre will be transformed into an Alice in Wonderland world when actors from Lancaster’s Grand Theatre host a special event on Market Square on Good Friday.

And at Rufford Old Hall there will be an Easter Egg Trail from 11am

On Easter Saturday, take the Festival Bowland Easter Trail at Beacon Fell Country Park, suitable for children four years and over with an adult.

On Easter Sunday, Guy’s Thatched Hamlet hosts its Funday from noon with egg rolling, an egg hunt, the best Easter bonnet and decorated egg, Punch and Judy and lots more.

While Hoghton Tower will be opening its doors again the Annual Easter Egg hunt in the Gardens. It is £2 per entry

At Chipping’s Wild Boar Park, join Easter egg hunts on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, take part in regular daily lamb feeding and chick stroking at 11am, 2pm and 4.30pm and watch racoon and meerkat feeding.

And at the Martin Mere Wetland Centre, the team have lost a number of giant yellow ducks and are calling on families to help track them down this Easter holiday from March 25 to April 24

Visitors will need to use their hide-and-seek skills to track down these 25 elusive birds and be in with a chance of winning a yummy chocolate treat

Other activities include pond dipping, canoe safari and boat tours

The Friends of Lytham Hall host their annual Family Fun Day on Easter Sunday, with trails through the parkland, stalls and craft workshops, plus a bouncy castle. The event starts at 11am (last entry 3.30pm)

And not forgetting Preston’s traditional egg rolling which will take place on the hour every hour from 11am at Avenham Park on Easter Monday

There will be creative workshops to make an Easter Bonnet plus an opportunity to take part in the bonnet competition to win the accolade of ‘Best Bonnet
