Record numbers of visitors joined this year’s Park It events, which took place throughout the summer at Ribbleton Park, Dovedale Park, Ashton Park and Moor Park.
The outdoor events offered youngsters a range of free activities each week in August, through funding from Preston Children and Young People’s Trust, Community Gateway Housing Association, Lancashire Young People’s Service and Lancashire Partnership Against Crime.
The launch event was held on August 1, with a finale event last Friday at Moor Park, and about 2,140 people attended throughout the month.
Cabinet member for culture and leisure services, Coun Veronica Afrin, said: “These free Park It events have been great for the people of Preston.
“They have provided a chance to try some every day sports and some very different sports in a safe environment.
“They have been getting people active and provided a chance to further peoples’ understanding about healthy eating. I would like to thank all the partners involved in this year’s Park It events and for the funding.”
