Country life was celebrated as the village of Chipping staged its 88th Agricultural and Horticultural Show.

Crowds enjoyed a bumper feast of attractions on the showground off Longridge Road against the backdrop of Parlick Fell.

Chipping Show celebrates all aspects of farming and rural life with classes for sheep, cattle, light horses, ponies and shire horses plus poultry, pigeon and egg sections.

The show, which dates back to 1920, also features fruit and vegetable stalls, cakes, handicrafts, flower arranging, preserves, wine, and photography.

The main ring highlights included motorcycling displays with livestock judging, a dog show, children’s sports, tug-of-war, and junior shepherd and stockman competitions

A grand parade of Vale of Lune Hunt and vintage farm machinery parade also took place.

There were also trade stands and food outlets and the renowned luncheon tent and local producers’ and craft marquees.

This year’s president is long-standing committee member Jeffrey Rich, a prolific exhibitor of flowers and vegetables for many years.
