Jessie Knight certainly has a need for speed.
As one of the youngest riders and coaches in the UK, the 12-year-old from Penwortham, is set to show off her skills on television next weekend.
Jessie will be up against three other talented skillsters vying to win the Need for Speedsters Skills Award on a new Nickelodeon series Fruit Shoot Get Your Skills On which showcases the talents of some of the UK’s most exceptional kids.
The Lostock Hall Academy pupil said she was introduced to the sport through her dad, Dave Knight, when she was four years old.
She said: “He’s my role model.
“As my dad is a pro-coach he really got me into and I’m so happy he did.”
On the show, Jessie, can be seen teaching Fruit Shoot Skills Crew member, B-Girl Issie, how to wakeboard at Liverpool’s Queen’s Dock where she regularly trains.
Jessie said: “She did really well, but that’s because I’m an awesome teacher!
“It was so exciting being on the TV and everyone was so nice, the crew and everybody.
“I just want to help people to discover wakeboarding, it’s an amazing sport and it would be a dream come true if I won the award.
“Every time I get in the water I like to push myself to do my best and learn new skills – just recently I’ve been practicing a raley where I fly through the air like superman, it’s brilliant.”
Viewers can see Jessie receive her nomination on August 2 at 9am and you can vote for Jessie at nick.co.uk/getyourskillson.
The winner will be announced in the final episode of Fruit Shoot Get Your Skills On, airing on Saturday, September 6.
