Hundreds of youngsters queued excitedly for their chance to meet their on-screen idols.
Sam and Billie Faiers, stars of ITV2’s The Only Way Is Essex, were at the Fishergate Shopping Centre in Preston, both yesterday and Saturday, where they opened a pop-up version of their boutique Minnies.
An empty unit was decked out with shiny, logo-emblazoned T-shirts, floaty skirts, tight leggings and special onesies, launched for the first time in Preston. There were also souvenir items such as coasters and note pads.
The stars, as well as members of their extended family, posed for photographs with fans, as they snapped up the chance to bag some Essex style.
Sohail Dad and friend Sima Patel, both 17, from Preston, started queuing as soon as the Fishergate Centre opened.
Sima said: “It’s amazing they’ve come to Preston. I know they’ve been to bigger cities, so to come and see us is great.”
Sohail said: “I’ve been a fan since day one. It’s really exciting to be able to meet Sam and Billie, and I’m going to look for something to buy as a treat for Sima.”
Billie, 23, said: “The pop-up shops always do really well and it’s quite overwhelming to see so many people queueing up to come to our shop.
“It’s nice we can get on the road and come up to places like Preston, because we know it’s not easy for people to get down to Essex and see us in the shop.”
Wearing a cardigan, vest and leggings from her own collection, Sam, 22, said: “It’s incredible to meet all the fans, who are really loyal to us.”
She added: “I’d describe our style as very Essex, and fast fashion.
“It’s quiet casual though, quite day-to-day.
“We used to go to the pop-up shops in high heels and dresses, but it’s just not practical, so we’re in leggings and tops now, and it’s much better.”
The pop-up shop was part of Fishergate Shopping Centre’s Christmas offering, along with light displays and visits from Father Christmas.
