A researcher at Edge Hill University has captured young people’s views on internet pornography in a new piece of theatre, which is about to tour the region.
Dr Kim Wiltshire, senior lecturer in script writing, with her co-writer Paul Hine, have been working on Project XXX to highlight issues around online porn and its effects on teenagers.
It explores areas including the mainstreaming of internet pornography and the changing face of technology.
Kim said: “When I first started my research in this area, I wanted to find out what young people really thought about internet porn and how it affects their relationships.
“Our findings highlighted a number of concerns, such as young people accessing hard-core internet porn at a very young age, especially in light of all the latest technology.
“Our investigations showed that there seemed to be a need for more education and more open discussion about this difficult phase for young people on their road to adulthood, relationships and sex.
“We are so excited to be taking the show out on tour.”
