One of Preston’s biggest venues could be stripped of its licence next week.
The licensing sub-committee of the city’s council will meet next Tuesday to decide on the future of the 53 Degrees venue on Fylde Road, Ashton, following a complaint by Lancashire Police.
Its options include revoking the licence, placing new conditions on its licence and taking no action.
In a report to the sub-committee, licensing officer Mike Thorpe said no further complaints about the venue had been received since the police’s request to review the licence.
Sgt John Lovick, of the licensing team at Preston Police, requested the review after officers received 27 call-outs to the venue at the city’s University of Central Lancashire since October 2010.
Peter Shilton-Godwin, chief executive of the Student Union which runs the venue, said: “We are working hard with the police to ensure when we get to the review, the concerns they have raised will be dealt with.”
