Rock legends The Who are to play in Manchester for the first time in more than a decade – performing their iconic record Quadrophenia in its entirety.

The show, at the Manchester Arena in June, follows on from the band’s successful North American tour which won praise for the interpretation of the renowned 1973 double album.

The show will feature founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, who will be joined by six other musicians.

A spokesman for the Arena said: “This new concert version of Quadrophenia, personally directed by Roger Daltrey, focuses on the original album and replaces the narrative used in previous stage versions with powerful imagery projected on an array of massive screens, designed to support, complement and propel the musical content of the work by setting it in the context of the history of the band. This is achieved to startling effect.”

Tickets for the Sunday, June 23, concert go on sale at 9am on Friday and are priced from £60.
