Star: Rebecca

A singing student raised £1,000 for St Catherine’s Hospice by landing the top prize in a competition.

Rebecca Duckworth, 18, a music and drama student at the University of Central Lancashire, was picked as the overall winner in the Furness Building Society’s Charity Challenge.

Rebecca, of Village Drive, Ribbleton, Preston, impressed judges with her rendition of Part Of Your World’ from the Disney hit animation The
Little Mermaid at the competition held at Lancaster Grand Theatre.

The Charity Challenge, sponsored by Furness Building Society, gave away more than £3,000 in prizes,
including £100 for every charity represented in the final.

Also singing on behalf of St Catherine’s in the final were musical duo Ben Wolfendon and Ruby Long who collected another £100 for the hospice in Lostock Hall, Preston.
