More than 1,000 visitors turned up to see Astley Hall all lit up at the weekend.

The Chorley venue was all aglow as part of the national Museums at Night festival.

Visitors were also treated to performances from the Chorley Guild Singers choir and the Friends of Astley Hall were dressed in traditional costume to greet people.

Jamie Carson, Chorley Council’s director for people and places, said: “Astley Hall looked magnificent in coloured spotlights and we are delighted that so many people came out to see it.

“The different coloured spotlights had an incredible effect on the interiors, making some of the furniture look spooky while also showing up details that people might miss when they come during the day.”

“We’ve had such a phenomenal response to the event that we may look to do something in the winter when it goes dark much earlier.”
