Local racing starlet Georgia Shiels will return to the track this weekend for the first time since her high-speed crash.
Rally driver Shiels’ rise has been rocked in recent weeks after she crashed out of the Jim Clark Rally in May and was forced to withdraw at the last minute from last weekends RSAC Scottish rally – after the announcement the British Rally Championship won’t run in 2015.
But the 18-year-old from Catterall, Garstang, will return to the track in her restored Fiat Arbarth 500 R1 in the ALMC stages rally this weekend in Dublin.
Georgia said: “I think (the crash) is going to make me a better driver, I won’t just hit the accelerator and go.
“Dublin will be a good test for the car and I’m looking for a decent overall result and to get to grips with the Irish roads - the roads are rougher.”
