Two police officers failed to notice a missing man's body while searching his house.
Greater Manchester Police visited the property on Cow Hill Lane, Ashton-under-Lyme in December last year, after 46-year-old Peter Hanrahan was reported missing.

Officers failed to spot his body, which was lying in the cellar of his house, due to "poor lighting", police said.

His corpse was discovered a week later when officers revisited the property.
