A tourist attraction is undergoing a frightening metamorphosis in time for Halloween.
Bygone Times in Eccleston, near Chorley in Lancashire, will stage what is thought to be the UK's first interactive walk-through Halloween horror show.

Visitors at the Victorian-style shopping venue may bump into the demon butcher or black widow bride as they make their way through the 35-minute spooktacular.

Ghost Encounter LIVE will mix live actors, theatrical special effects, illusions and the building's chilling history.

The experience is expected to have audiences screaming and laughing.

Joint producer Jason Karl, a former presenter of Living TV's Most Haunted, said: "Located in a Victorian mill, Bygone Times has a long history of paranormal occurrences and provides the perfect setting for Ghost Encounter LIVE."

Jason believes the show is the first of its kind in the UK.

He described it as a touring show with a strong story that could play at different locations and be adapted to those venues.

Although the company's "terror technicians" have been creating this kind of show for several years, Bygone Times is by far the largest
location they have worked in.

Bygone Times' operations manager John Cunliffe, has had a sneak preview of the show. He said: "This has got to be the scariest, most spectacular and downright inspired Halloween entertainment in the region."

Whilst the 'scare' industry is relatively new to the UK, over the pond in the USA it generates between $300m and $500m each year.

l Ghost Encounter LIVE runs every night from 7pm between October 20 and November 2. Tickets are priced at £13 per person. The show is suitable for all ages and children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
