Armed police were called to arrest a masked man wandering the streets with a whirring chainsaw - only to discover he was on his way to a fancy dress party.
Terrified residents in Bicester, Oxford, called police with a description and an armed response unit and the force helicopter were scrambled in minutes.
But when Thames Valley officers arrived in the town's Churchill Road, they found the man simply had a very convincing costume and prop.
