A man who embarked on a mission to trade a free bottle opener up to a Rolls Royce has achieved his goal - almost.
Andrew Henderson, 43, who works in Chorley and drives an old Honda Civic, got the idea from Canadian Kyle MacDonald who started with a paper clip and ended up with a house in 2006.

Kyle traded one red paperclip for a house in the Town of Kipling Saskatchewan after just 14 swaps.

Andrew said: "Since last April, I have done another 13 trades with people in England, Ireland, USA, Portugal and Holland. And I also briefly appeared on the Richard and Judy show doing a swap with Kyle when I got a London police whistle from the 1800s."

Andrew was on holiday in Zakinthos in August 2006 when his swapping hopes began, exchanging nothing for a bottle opener belonging to a man called Spiros.

He then traded items including glassware, paintings, a rocking chair, motorcycle exhausts, a teddy gorilla, 500 balloons and a bottle of fine Chianti from a restaurant in Amsterdam.

But, he has been foiled in his bid to briefly own a Llama, as the animal called Speedy, died before he got his hands on it.

He says he will continue to keep trading and hopes to eventually end up with a luxury car of his dreams.

"The target is still a real one, it was just a coincidence I got a model Rolls Royce in 20 trades," Andrew said.
