Woman and child hurt in M6 crash

A car overturned on the M6 near Preston causing long tailbacks.
Police say the woman driver was distracted by a child in the passenger seat before she collided her vehicle with the central reservation.

It happened on the northbound stretch of the carriageway prior to junction 31 and led to a lane being closed off.

Police say both the woman and the child were taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with "cuts and bruises" but there were no serious injuries.

It happened at around 5.25pm.
