Three thieves stole a taxi before crashing it into a Lancashire bridge.
The men, described as Asian, ran from the scene after smashing the car into a bridge over the River Darwen off Higher Walton Road in Higher Walton.

Paramedics were called to treat the men though they had taken off down Shop Lane. Firefighters were also called after the car caught fire in the incident at around 4.30am on Tuesday.

Police said they later arrested two men, aged 18 and 26, in connection with the incident but are still investigating.

A spokeswoman said: "Inquiries are ongoing though they had only minor injuries."

The council has been informed about possible damage to the bridge.
