The result of a speed camera probe is expected to be announced next week.

Long live speed limits,

Same thing - people caught deliberately breaking the law may get off because of some extremely small oversight which has nothing at all to do with the law that has been broken.

"extremely small oversight which has nothing at all to do with the law that has been broken."

So the camera is set at 28 in a 30 and you get done. You wouldn't contest it? "Small oversight" indeed....

@ Long live speed limits: The law is the law. This means that exceeding the speed limit on a road is unlawful. However, the law also sets out how such an offence is to be prosecuted and its not actually that complicated. But if the Central Processing Office cannot be bothered to follow the law or, just like the drivers you refer to, deliberately ignores the law or bends or otherwise breaks it, then the prosecution for speeding cannot go ahead! It is not, therefore, "some extremely small oversight". The law is the law and works both ways.

small oversight - letter typed in the wrong font, etc.(all the sort of things that 'celebrity' law-breakers get away with).
Speed set at 28 mph in a 30 area is not a small oversight; it is a mistake that needs to be corrected. I'd have thought you could tell the difference.
