A woman has been taken to hospital after her moped collided with a car on a busy Preston road.
The incident happened in Blackpool Road, Ashton, close to the junction with Clifton Avenue, at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.

A spokesman for police said the woman was knocked off her blue Typhoon Piaggio moped after colliding with a blue Volkswagon Passat.

She was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance and was said to have head injuries and a broken wrist.

It is not believed her injuries are life threatening.

The road was shut off and remained closed at 8pm on Tuesday while recovery of the vehicles took place.
