Surface water on a main Lancashire motorway sparked rush hour tailbacks.
The Highways Agency was reporting delays of around 10 minutes on both sides of the M6 between junction 31A at Fulwood and junction 32 at Broughton at around 5.30pm on Tuesday.

Heavy rain battered the carriageway, causing traffic to slow down and clogging the area.

In Fulwood, standing traffic just before 6pm was leading back off the M6 at junction 31A and past the Norman Jepson pub.

The queues were expected to clear by around 6.30pm.
