Heavy traffic on the M6 in Lancashire caused long delays for commuters on Monday.
The Highways Agency reported morning delays of 10 minutes on the northbound carriageway between Junction 29 near Bamber Bridge and Junction 32 at Broughton.

However, a driver on his way to work in Preston said the traffic was affecting motorists trying to get on the M6 from the M61, several miles from the Broughton junction.

Traffic at the Broughton roundabout was also unusually heavy at 9am, although the police and Highways Agency said they had received no reports of accidents or ongoing incidents.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: "It's just sheer volume of traffic as far as we're aware at the moment."

Normal traffic conditions were expected to resume by 10.15am.

I work in Manchester but live in Preston and it's like that every morning! You just have to grin and bare it! Also I must say there are some nutters on the motorway as I was nearly crushed by a lorry and car trying to undertake and over take me in the outside lane!

"Traffic at the Broughton roundabout was also unusually heavy at 9am, although the police and Highways Agency said they had received no reports of accidents or ongoing incidents." - it would not make the paper if it was just about normal traffic.
