Driver killed in crash near BAE is named

The man killed in a crash on the A59 opposite the entrance to BAE Systems in Lancashire has been named.
Sameer Vohra, a 34-year-old from Blackburn, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision involving a BMW 5 series, a Peugeot and an HGV on Whalley Road in Samlesbury on Thursday.

Mr Vohra had been driving the BMW.

Four other people were injured in the smash.

A woman from Blackpool, who was a passenger in the BMW, was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with head and leg injuries. Two women in the Peugeot were also taken to RPH suffering minor injuries.

The driver of the truck, thought to be in his late 40s and from Bolton, was taken to the Royal Blackburn Infirmary with minor injuries.

A section of the road was closed at the Swallow Hotel until 6.06pm while accident investigators remained at the scene following the crash at around 1.20pm.
