An unmarked police car has been involved in a late-night collision in Preston city centre.
The vehicle was travelling along Ring Way attending an emergency call at 2am on Thursday when it struck another vehicle at the junction with Friargate.

A police spokesman said the driver of the other car was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance suffering from "whiplash injuries".

The police officer, who was based with the road policing unit, is believed to have been unharmed.

Police accident investigation officers have launched an inquiry.
