Penwortham bypass was closed while 999 crews freed a woman from a car.
The Suzuki hit a lamp-post in Golden Way and careered down an embankment into trees just before 5pm on Saturday.

The elderly male driver escaped but a female passenger, thought to be his wife, was trapped.

Firefighters helped her out of the car and said she appeared to be suffering neck and back injuries.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance.

The bypass was closed in both directions following the accident from the supermarket near Booths roundabout to the Pope Lane roundabout.

It is expected to re-open at some point on Saturday evening.
