Armed police stopped traffic on the M6 in Lancashire to "arrest" a man at gunpoint.
But the incident between junctions 33 and 32 on the southbound carriageway was simply part of a training exercise between Lancashire Police's armed unit and motorway police.

The force put out a rolling road block slowing traffic down to 40mph as t
he exercise took place at around 12.20pm on Tuesday.

A passing motorist, who witnessed the drama as he headed north, said the man appeared to have been driving a green Ford Galaxy.

He said: "There was a man in the middle of the road with his hands up in the air.

"There were a least six police officers with guns surrounding him and 12-15 officers altogether."

It's out of order for the police to use the motorway as their own private training facility. It only takes one motorist to panic when they see someone with a gun, and the whole thing will turn into an accident scene.

If the police want to train for this sort of thing on a motorway, wait until the next truck falls over and the road is closed for six hours, then they can play cops and robbers to their hearts' content on the empty carriageway.

Sam Tana get a grip.
If you drive into the back of someone and cause an accident because of whats happening on the opposite carriageway then YOUR at fault for two very good reasons. 1 your to close and have not given yourself enough space and time to react to other drivers and 2 wy on earth are you looking at the opposite carriageway and not in front of you ?
As far as training goes if you need to stop a car full of dangerous armed criminals surely its better they do it on a motorway rather than right in front of your house with children running in the street. Think about it ?
