A podcast is a digital media file, or collection of such files, sent over the web for playing on portable media players and personal computers.
Like radio, podcast can mean either the content or the method by which it is distributed or shared.

Podcasts (audio files) and vodcasts (video) are sent to a subscriber's computer and updated automatically.

People can subscribe to the auto feeds by submitting a specified address to an aggregator (like iTunes) after downloading the necessary software to their computers.

They can then upload the content onto ipods, portable audio and video players.
