Medical students from Royal Preston Hospital are heading to Africa to take new technology into schools.
Three fourth year students from Lancashire Teaching Hospitals – Emily Jackson, 23, Rachael Saxon, 22 and Dave Tibbits, 22, – will fly to Likoma Island to help with The Lake Malawi Project.
They will distribute computer equipment and educational s
oftware for use in schools on the Malawi-owned island to help provide more children with access to better teaching resources.
The group will take laptops with them but are still on the look out for projectors or additional laptops to donate and help with purchasing software.
Emily said: "We are going to Malawi for two weeks and while we are there hope to install and demonstrate the use of the computers and their software, so that after we leave, the members of the community will have continued access to knowledge.
"We are hoping to find someone willing to offer us a projector and any further laptops would also be useful."
l Anyone who has a computer projector or laptop they want to donate should call 07841 129905.
