Alan Irvine has urged what could be Deepdale's biggest league crowd for 35 years tomorrow to be loud, be proud . . . but behave!
Irvine expects a super-charged atmosphere for one of the biggest derby clashes in recent history.

But today he called on both sets of fans in a 21,000 audience not to push the rivalry too far.

"I really don't expect there to be any nonsense," he told the Evening Post.

"I'm sure the supporters will get behind their teams, but not go any further.

"I want our supporters to really get behind us and make Deepdale an intimidating place for Blackpool to play in – but obviously within the right spirit.

"We have seen a couple of examples lately of crowds behaving badly.

"We don't want any of that.

"I don't see why we can't have a red-hot, electric atmosphere full of passion and desire. But I don't see why it has to spill over into trouble.

"I'm sure there won't be any."

Irvine is calling on the home fans to pump up the volume and keep Preston's play-off dream alive.

The lunchtime showdown (1pm) could have a huge bearing on how both clubs finish the season, and Irvine believes this is the moment for Deepdale's demanding home audience to stand up and be counted.

"The crowd can have a big influence on how this game goes," said Irvine as he prepared to send his troops into battle for a must-win match if Preston are to have any realistic chance of making the end-of-season knockout.

Irvine has only one injury worry for the big match, with full-back Callum Davidson still having difficulties shaking off a hamstring problem which has kept him sidelined for more than a month.

The Scotland international did not train again yesterday, although Irvine was hoping he would resume this morning and be ready for the squad on Saturday.

"We aren't giving up on Callum, he's got a chance," he said.

Do you think that lonergan could become gordon Banks or superman for the next few weeks and start hurling himself through the stratos .by instinct and not thought leping through the air from stick to stick palming the ball away in cat like fashion .like ray clemence or peter shilton on a good day or even david james on a good day .he must dominate the six yard box or we will not go up .we need to give him one or two men on the posts and covering during set pieces and play .we have got to deny the opposition and keep clean sheete to go up

It's gonna be great for the players (and fans) to see 3 sides of Deepdale almost full with PNE fans. I really think we should just give the Kop to away fans every week and concentrate on trying to fill 3 sides - it would look so much better if the home areas looked busier and would surely also help with costs with less stewards / police required than to monitor two sets of fans in the same stand.

Anyway - cannot wait for tomorrow - please, please, please get behind the team and don't turn on them at any stage - if you do that you are a Blackpool fan for the day as you'll be helping them! Do you want that on your conscience? COME ON YOU WHITES!

I was handed two free tickets in the Invincibles Lounge for this fixture.

I have decided to take them and take my Grandad to it. He hasn't been to a game in a long while.

I will therefore, be in the Invincibles Lounge and the with the Prawn Sandwich brigade for this fixture.

It is gonna be different and maybe Blackpool wasn't the best game to go in there but I am gonna enjoy it as much as possible.

When Davidson is fit he should play, but I can't believe how injury prone he is. This has been the case since he has been here. Therefore, we should alaways have decent cover at left back, which we haven't. Nolan fills in well, but you can tell he isn't comfortable there.

Not only have north end turfed out the regular supporters from the bill shankley, they are charging the blackpool fans only £19.60 per adult, what an insult to all pne fans.

north end need a clear out or will always be in the championship or relegated to league div 1 this lot will never get in the premiership it would be nice to have a year in the premiership but thats all if we ever make it because we dont have the revenue to stay in the preneirship

If Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Fulham, et al, can stay in the Premiership, so could PNE. Getting there is the main problem. At some stage Preston will have to take the gamble of investing for success, or reconcile themselves to a future in the lower divisions.I can understand why many people would be happy with the latter option, though I don't share that view.
