Preston North End favourites are to be immortalised in the new £6m Invincibles Pavilion stand.
All of the 22 executive boxes are to be named after famous players past and present.

The club has drawn up a list of around 25 or 30 legends as a guide to choose from but any fan wishing to snap up a box can pick their own legend.

General manager Ben Rhodes said: "We won't stop anyone naming one after their favourite player."

One fan has specifically asked for stalwart Lee Cartwright, shunning more illustrious names such as Sir Tom Finney and Bill Shankly, who already have stands named after them.

Nine of the 22 boxes in the new £6m, 3,700-seat stand have been sold.

The latest went yesterday for £16,000, shortly before The Evening Post was given a sneak peak inside the new stand.

A further three boxes are under reserve and the club said they are going fast. Mr Rhodes added: "There could be a bun fight over the next few weeks. The demand could outstrip supply."

Prices start at £16,000 plus VAT for the season, and includes a private terrace to watch the game, a plasma TV and a three-course meal.

The stand should be ready for the start of next season.

The new stand is coming on, not sure if i had the cash, i would payout £16,000, but someone will. I hope they name of the boxes after Henry Wharton, the first black player,as we know he was a top sportsman, but died penny less, that is so sad, but he is now remembered for a man well before his time.

I'm having one. Not sure whether to call it the Neil Trebble or Mark Sale Suite, though. Or maybe the Siddall Suite, after (very) big Barry came out of retirement to help Port Vale score 5 goals against us.

Do you get the same feeling as me, with the new stand looking very good, the team now looking like a team again and the future looking much brighter? After being in the depths of despair for much of the season we fans at last have something to look forward to and we are certainly ending 2007-8 on a high. If we can just tweak things a little more during the summer, then next season could be very special. I am celebrating 50 years as a supporter this year, and I was dreading 2008 to be remembered as a relegation season. But many congrats to all at Deepdale for getting us out of the mess we were in. Oh, and by the way I'm having two boxes, the Alex Bruce and Alex Dawson boxes. I will be ringing the club on Sunday, after my lottery win!
