A young Preston tennis star has shown that she is to one to watch for the future
Twelve-year-old Maddie Frediani, who is from Penwortham, competed against some of the best players of her age group in the Junior Necker Cup Final
Held at the Virgin Active Royal Berkshire Club earlier this month, the winner of the competition wins a fantastic trip to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the heart of the British Virgin Island.
There they will represent the UK against the USA’s best player in their category category next month.
Unfortunately – despite winning through to the latter stages of the Virgin Active-run tournament – Frediani missed out on the trip of a lifetime.
She had earlier won through a host of regional qualifying rounds to get through to UK finals.
Frediani said: “I have learned so much from this experience.
“Tennis is my passion and it has been great fun to be part of the Virgin Active Junior Necker Cup. I am sad it is over!”
The winner of the competition was Olivia Elliot and she will be heading to Necker Island from November 19th – 23rd.
Gary Stewart, Virgin Active UK Head of Racquet Sports said: “The Junior Necker Cup has been as great success, and we have seen an exceptional standard of tennis played across the tournament.
“This shows great promise for the future of female tennis stars in the UK.”
