Leyland Lions Junior Squash and Racketball Club at Leyland Leisure Centre have been awarded their England Squash and Racketball Bronze Club Charter in recognition of their development work.

Angela Cwaczko, the North West regional manager, came to present the award.

The ES&R Club Charter –incorporating Sport England’s Clubmark – is one of sports most exciting initiatives, providing opportunities to develop clubs, coaches, volunteers and players.

Club Charter sets out common criteria for squash and racketball clubs to meet in the areas of duty care and child protection, coaching and competition, and club management.

John Gibson, who set up the junior club back in 2004, said: “We are the “hub club” for the sport in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble and have developed and established excellent club-school links in the local community.”
