Chorley squash star Laura Massaro won her second silver of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The 30-year-old and her partner Jenny Duncalf were beaten to the gold medal when they lost the women’s doubles final to Indian pair Dipika Pallikal and Joshana Chinappa.
After losing the first set 11-6, the England duo seemed certain to force a decider as they led 7-2 in the second set. However, the Indians produced a stirring comeback to seal the set 11-8 and win the gold medal.
Massaro had already claimed a silver medal in the singles, losing to world No.1 Nicol David 3-0 in the gold medal match.
“I’m disappointed that we didn’t win,” Massaro said. “But we gave it our all, we’ve had a great week and I’m proud of the silver,” she said.
“India played really well, I felt like we changed our tactics at the end of the first set and caught them a bit by surprise.
“They adapted and then we didn’t adapt back quick enough. That’s doubles, it goes very quickly.”
