Chorley’s Laura Massaro is on countdown to the Commonwealth Games which start in Glasgow in three weeks.
Massaro, 30, heads to Scotland as women’s world squash champion and will be competing for England in the singles and women’s doubles.
This will be her second Commonwealth Games, having won a silver medal in the doubles in Delhi four years ago.
Said Massaro: “The Games are getting closer and this is a really exciting time.
“This is probably the closest I will get to a ‘home’ games, with Manchester having been the host city back in 2002.
“We have been meeting as a squad for the last few weeks and the preparation will be stepped up further now that we are in July.
“To bring home a medal in the singles would be amazing and that is my aim.”
