A charity racketball tournament held in Leyland proved a big success.

Six local players took part in the event to raise money for ‘Miles of Smiles’.

Organiser John Gibson said: “It was the first time any squash or racketball club in Lancashire had held a charity event.

“My thanks goes to Paul Heathcote for sponsoring the event, along with two other tournaments we held.”

Gibson has been working hard to establish racketball in the Leyland area.

Two six-week courses have been run at local secondary schools to give girls a chance to try the sport, with funding having been received from Sport England.
