The World Seniors Snooker Championship will get underway this weekend at Preston Guild Hall.

The competition – which will be sponsored by 888sport for the first time will see some of the game’s greatest ever players in action.

Televised live on Sky Sports, former world champion Peter Ebdon will get the tournament underway when he faces former Crucible finalist Nigel Bond in the first round on Saturday, starting 1pm.

Last year’s winner and two-time world champion Mark Williams – who won the title on his debut – will then take on Anthony Hamilton.

The final two matches of the afternoon session will see Tony Drago face Robert Milkins and 1986 world champion Joe Johnson take on Welshman darren Morgan.

In the evening, starting at 7pm, Ken Doherty – Crucible winner in 1997 – will meet Mark Davis followed by 1991 world champion John Parrott against Dominic Dale.

The final two first round matches will see Rory McLeod up against Fergal O’Brien and six-times World Championship finalist Jimmy White take on Gary Lees.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for the following day in the afternoon, with both semi-final and final going ahead in the evening.
