Preparations are well under way for one of the most popular events on the Preston sporting calendar.
The ninth annual Walker Smith Way Legal Preston Sports Awards will be held on Friday, March 7, at the city’s Guild Hall.
Organisers held a celebration event at Preston’s College this week to launch the Sports Awards and gave clubs a platform to recognise their volunteers who go the extra mile.
Preston gymnast Bella Raven attended to give sponsors and volunteers from across the city an insight into her preparations towards competing against Olympians at the English Championships in the hope to qualify for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Jane Booker, partner at headline sponsors Walker Smith Way Legal, said: “It’s always an honour attending the volunteer celebration event and hearing the inspiring achievements of these dedicated people.
“The evening also signals the launch of the Preston Sports Awards which we are proud to sponsor once again.
“I would encourage people to get their nominations in soon, as the deadline is fast approaching.”
There will be 17 awards up for grabs. The award sponsored by Preston City Council has been amended in memory of Cllr Tom Burns, who recently passed away.
Nominations are being accepted until Monday, February 3.
