Preston North End have signed Leeds United right-back Paul Connolly on loan for the rest of the season.
The 29-year-old will join his PNE team-mates for training on Thursday and is set to make his debut in Saturday’s League One clash with Yeovil Town at Huish Park.
Connolly’s arrival can hopefully solve the problems PNE have had with the right-back slot since Keith Keane was sidelined by knee surgery in November.
Five players have filled in there over the last couple of months including Jack King and John Mousinho.
Liverpool-born Connolly has been out of favour with Elland Road boss Neil Warnock this season.
Graham Westley ran the rule over him during Leeds’ reserves win over Blackpool in a friendly at their Thorp Arch training ground last week.
He kicked-off his career with Plymouth, making more than 150 league appearances for them before joining Derby in 2008.
From there he moved on to Leeds two years later - via a loan spell at Sheffield United - and made 64 appearances for the Yorkshire club.
At the start of this season he spent a month on loan at Portsmouth.
Connolly will wear the No.15 shirt at North End.
