Preston North End left-back David Buchanan was named League One Player of the Year at the North West Football Awards.
Buchanan, 26, won the award for his performances last season with former club Tranmere Rovers, beating off competition from Carlisle striker Lee Miller and former Oldham defender Kieran Lee.
He joined North End in the summer on a Bosman after coming to the end of his contract at Tranmere.
The North West Football Awards took place at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Monday night, with the evening hosted by BBC sports reporter Dan Walker.
Roberto Mancini was named Manager of the Year after guiding Manchester City to the Premier League title, while Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel won the Premier League Player of the Year award.
Morecambe defender Chris McCready was a finalist in the League Two Player of the Year category, but former Crewe striker Nick Powell - now with Manchester United - picked up the honour.
Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan was given the Lifetime Achievement to North West Football award.
