Coutts leaves North End

Paul Coutts

Paul Coutts

Midfielder Paul Coutts has left Preston North End for Derby County.

The 23-year-old finally penned a three-year deal with the Championship outfit on Friday night after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

Coutts, who had set his sights on a return to the second tier of English football, had already rejected a move back to Peterborough United, the club he left to move to Deepdale two-and-a-half years ago.

During his stay at Preston Coutts made 86 appearances, scoring five goals. He has signed a three year deal at Pride Park.

North End fans will hope Coutts’ departure will trigger some further incoming transfer business at North End to add to the deals completed earlier in the close season.

There are a further seven members of the squad who North End are inviting offers for – the incoming transfer fees and freeing up of space on the wage bill will help ease the Deepdale coffers.
