Preston North End defender Ben Davies has joined Newport County on a youth loan.
The 20-year-old could make his Exiles debut against Blackburn Rovers at Rodney Parade on Saturday in the third round of the FA Cup.
It is Davies' second loan spell of the season, having spent time with Southport earlier in the season.
He has made one appearance for PNE this term, as a second-half substitute against Crewe in the Capital One Cup in August.
Since returning from the loan at Southport, Davies has been an unused substitute a handful of times.
Newport manager John Sheridan said: "I have always liked Ben.”
“I remember from back when I was at Plymouth that he did really well at York City and even helped them get into the play-offs.”
“I know that he has a good understanding of this division and I think he is unfortunate not to be playing regularly for Preston.”
“Ben has done well in this division before and this move is an opportunity for him to play some games and I am really glad that we have got him here.”
Davies' loan runs until February 13.
