Golfers will get the chance to practice their swing after a new driving range opened for business in Warton.

Husband and wife team Daniel and Becca Webster have transformed the facility on Lytham Road, Warton, into the Lytham Golf Academy.

Daniel Webster is the head professional at St Annes Old Links and recently took over the driving range site.

Four weeks of alteration work saw the run-down driving range transformed into a vibrant facility which aims to attract golfers of all abilities.

The opening weekend of the LGA saw it link-up with the Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer charity.

Golfers took part in a golf skills challenge organised by charity patron and local golf professional Paul Eales. They negotiated five challenges on a specially-constructed course incorporating slalom poles, crossbars and rugby posts.

The top 10 players on the day are being invited back in April for a Grand Final event.

During the opening weekend, 20,000 practice balls were hit on the range, with LGA staff on hand to offer technical advice and coaching tips.

Dan Konyk, the European longest drive champion, also showed off his skills.

He hit several shots of over 400 yards, and also a shot of 300 yards with his putter!

Becca Webster said: “We were so excited to see the reaction of customers to the changes.

“We’re so grateful to our supportive local businesses who donated prizes.

“The feedback to the changes has been overwhelming.”
