Britons Ed Corrie and Tara Moore were crowned champions in the AEGON GB Pro Series event at South Ribble Tennis and Fitness Centre in Bamber Bridge.
The event attracted male and female competitors from Europe, Asia, USA and beyond.
Corrie, 24, from Hertfordshire, claimed his first professional singles title when he defeated American Christian Harrison 2-6 6-3 7-5 in the final of the ITF $10k event. He now moves onto the AEGON GB Pro Series in Sheffield.
And Corrie said: “It feels really, really good. It was an absolute physical war out there – to come through the way I did feels really good.”
In the women’s draw, second seed Moore won the singles title with a 7-6 6-1 win over Ireland’s Amy Bowtell in one hour and 29 minutes.
Moore, who captured her second singles title in as many weeks, said: “I was looking to come and play loads of matches and I’ve definitely done that these past two weeks and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year.”
On finals day, a celebration of tennis took place at the centre with an opportunity for the public to meet the players, take part in a ‘cardio tennis’ session and watch a wheelchair tennis demonstration, featuring Paralympic bronze medallist Jamie Burdekin, who is based at South Ribble.
A mini tennis event for children who are currently enrolled on junior courses at the centre also featured as part of the finals day.
The local highlight of the tournament was a first-round win for Imran Aswat, 17, also based out of South Ribble Tennis and Fitness Centre, who defeated Marko Djokovic, the younger brother of ATP world No.1 Novak Djokovic, 6-3 7-5.
