Kendal Town ready for showdown

Kendal Town boss Lee Ashcroft insists the pressure is on home side Ilkeston Town in tonight's UniBond Premier Division showdown.

Kendal clinched the final play-off berth, with a dramatic 3-2 win over Buxton at Parkside Road on Saturday.

Now the winners of tonight's semi-final clash at the New Manor Ground will lock horns with Nantwich Town or Guiseley in Saturday's final, also away.

"We've done superbly to get this far, but the pressure is all on them tonight – they're the favourites," said Ashcroft.

"But there is a fantastic spirit and camaraderie at Kendal, though, and the boys have proved that by making it to the play-offs.

"There was a lot of tension on Saturday because we didn't know for a long time the outcome of the FC United versus Bradford game, but it finished as a draw and that meant we got the last place."

The former Deepdale favourite added: "It would be a wonderful achievement to get Kendal to the Conference North, and we are two matches from achieving that target."
