Wonder drive denies Magpies

Andy Teague is congratulated on his goal to put Chorley ahead against Worksop Town

An absorbing contest between Chorley and Worksop Town fittingly finished 1-1 after a fully-committed display by two evenly-matched promotion-chasing teams.

Worksop were fortunate not to be two-down inside the first 17 minutes. Proya Ahmadi’s header rattled the underside of the bar and Andy Russell appeared unlucky to be flagged offside as he bundled home the loose ball. But a minute later Chorley did go ahead, Andy Teague at the far post sidefooting Russell’s short centre into a gaping net.

But four minutes Craig King’s ferocious drive arrowed into the top corner to put Worksop back on level terms.

AFC Fylde’s FA Cup dream is over after a first-round home defeat by League Two Accrington Stanley.

Will Hatfield scored all Stanley’s goals in a 4-1 win.

Adam Farrell’s 90th-minute reply for the Coasters was nothing more than a consolation.

In the NPL Premier, Kendal drew 4-4 at Ilkeston, while in the First Division North, Bamber Bridge were 4-0 winners against Farsley.

Andrew Bell (33, 59, 63) hit a hat-trick for Brig, with Matthew Kay (90) scoring the other goal.

Other NPL First Division North results: Lancaster City 0 Ramsbottom United 5, Mossley 3 Burscough 1, Ossett Albion 0 Clitheroe 1.
