Motocross riders ramped up the thrills

Adrenaline junkies revved their engines as the UK’s newest national motocross series came to Preston.

The city’s dockside motorcross track played host to the MX Nationals event across the whole weekend as riders from all over the UK and Europe, flew up ramps and through the air to battle it out for a podium finish.

The great family day out saw fans descend from far and wide, taking in trade stands and six different categories of riders, ranging from the under 15s all the way up to the Professional ‘’MX1’’ and ‘’MX2’’ races.

Nathan Watson took first place in the MX1 professional race with Graeme Irwin second and Kristian Whatley in third, while over in the MX2 professional race Ben Watson took top spot, Adam Sterry in second and Neville Bradshaw taking third.

And over in the Clubman class Lancashire lad Danny Townsend, who is leading the championship could only manage third place behind Ash Cotterell in second and Lewis Belfield in first
