Home sweet home for Shrimps

Morecambe return to home sweet home this evening when they welcome Cheltenham Town to the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps will be pleased to be on home soil once more after suffering yet more away day heartbreak last weekend when they were defeated by lowly Plymouth Argyle 2-1 at Home Park.

It was the sixth defeat on their travels in an eight-match winless away run in League Two, stretching back to October 13 when they overcame Rochdale 2-1 at Spotland.

Happily for manager Jim Bentley, especially as far as tonight is concerned, it is a different story at home.

He has watched his team win five and draw four of their past nine league games at the Globe Arena and he will be hoping to stretch that to 10 unbeaten after tonight.

Bentley said: “I seem to be saying the same thing when we come on our travels, that we haven’t taken anything from when we’ve deserved to.

“Saturday against Plymouth was the same. We gave them a two-goal start which gave us a mountain to climb.

“But fair play to the lads, they came battling back and played some great football. We scored a great goal but just couldn’t find that second goal.

“But we’ll take the postives and go into our game against Cheltenham tonight, who are going to be very difficult opponents.”

The club has also issued another ticket offer to its fans and anyone wishing to buy a standing ticket for the game this evening can do so at the reduced price of £10 for adults.
